I get it, I’ve been there!
After over 10 years working in corporates I decided I wanted to follow my passion and start my own business because I wanted to make a DIFFERENCE, do work that used my STRENGTHS, have the FREEDOM to do this work where and when I wanted and be PAID WELL for it.
But I was overwhelmed with what to focus on when starting my own business! Given most small businesses FAIL in the first few years I knew I was going to be successful I had to DO something DIFFERENT.
So I took a leap and joined a high-level entrepreneur business advisory program. I learnt cutting edge business techniques and just as importantly I learnt that to be truly successful and fulfilled in life you need to do work that's aligned to your PURPOSE.

I got clear on my purpose ("to inspire and enable people to live their most fulfilling lives"), undertook my Master Coaching Qualification and started a coaching business aligned to this purpose. It also allowed me to use my corporate business consulting experience, Masters in Psychology, love of personal development and passion for supporting people to be successful in business.
However, I was WORKING REALLY HARD in my business on the weekend and at nights but wasn't getting the results I wanted. I was RUN DOWN and TIRED but I thought if I just kept working hard it would pay off.

I decided enough was enough and invested in getting coached myself. It helped me realise I was PLAYING SMALL and fearing I wasn't GOOD ENOUGH for my business to work (hence the overworking and perfectionism in a never ending attempt to be 'good enough').
By addressing these unresourceful beliefs, getting super clear on my ideal client and business model it was then that EVERYTHING SHIFTED - I started to get the RESULTS I wanted and I was working with AMAZING CLIENTS. Without addressing the underlying beliefs and getting clarity and direction I would not have taken my business to the next level.
All this happened while, and perhaps partly because, I focused on taking great CARE of MYSELF, making time for the things I LOVED TO DO, with the PEOPLE I LOVED. I worked hard but I relaxed hard too.
Now IMAGINE this for YOURSELF:

You have a PLAN of how to get there and someone who holds you ACCOUNTABLE
The work you are doing is aligned to your PURPOSE and PASSION
You've addressed your UNRESOURCEFUL BELIEFS and fears which have held you back in the past and you're now CONFIDENT of your success and are attracting and growing fulfilling RELATIONSHIPS
You no longer stress about MONEY - you can shout the girls cocktails at the bar, buy that outfit you want and take that overseas holiday you've been dreaming of without worrying about money
You are doing all this with grace and style, WORKING hard THEN RELAXING really well, with time for the things you love to do

However, focusing only on achieving the external stuff - a great career or business, relationships, looking good, money, success can still leave people with a feeling inside that it's never quite enough, that they need more external stuff, that they're never quite good enough or worthy enough no matter how much I achieve.
In coaching we use the 'pain vs pleasure' model to create a compelling reason why it is better to make change than to remain stuck in your current circumstances. When we fully asses the cost of staying the same vs the benefits of changing, it is then that we can make a decision on the best path for us to take.
